Back Online! Let's talk WAKEY!WAKEY!

Hey! Back online :)

So, I'm obsessing over WAKEY!WAKEY! This group is gaining glorious momentum thanks to the likability of its lead singer, Mike Grubbs, who is currently being featured as a reoccurring character on One Tree Hill. While others (like Kate Voegele) have been featured on OTH, none have had a character with their same name, so kudos to you, Grubbs!

In addition to his charming charisma, Grubbs is wonderfully talented, giving rhythm piano a breath of fresh air and a new wave of awesome, keeping rhythms simple and melodies light and elegant. He doesn't sound like anyone else you've ever heard before, and he's soulful yet accessably mainstream, making him perfect for radio. (Hope to hear you soon, Mike!)

The band as a whole has a great retro sound that's uniquely different but strangely familiar due to the strikingly real lyrics and pictures that Grubbs paints with his words. Each song prompts the comment "been there!" from the audience. In short, you've got to check out WAKEY!WAKEY!, a delightfully truthful musical experience. I mean, come on, with lyrics like "You should go home before your money's all gone" and "Why you wanna talk when we dance so good," how can you say NO?

Bubbly for Buble!!!

Hello there!

So, as you know by know, I'm gaga for GAGA...but did you know that I'm bubbly for Michael Buble??? Well, you do now! The Canadian-born crooner who started his career playing holes-in-the-wall and peaking at weddings before hitting the airwaves has been compared to Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra for his velvety voice and clean-cut appearance. Well, the hottie certainly possesses one of the best voices out there as well as a heartthrob-appeal that has not only revitalized the old standards of blue eyes and others but has energized his fanbase to be receptive to new popular songs like "Everything" and "Home."

This is a short piece today, but I truly feel that nothing I can tell you will make you understand my obsession than just giving Buble a listen...so do it!

He's sultry, he's bubbly, he's wonderful...he's Michael Buble.

Happy Listening!

So it's come to my attention...

So it has come to my attention that I have readers! Therefore, I have decided to continue on with my previously-abandoned blog...

First of all, I would like to say: what a difference a year makes! Remember how I gushed over that new GAGA girl? Well, now, even if you wanted to, you couldn't say that you didn't know who she was :) Yay! And if you're not obsessed with her...well, what's wrong with you! Her music isn't sophisticated enough? Well, dance music doesn't need to be...she has a message, and she's sending it...her way...kudos, Gaga!

Now, I left off with some of my Fine Frenzy and Lily Allen obsessions. I am happy to inform you that I have picked up other obsessions since.

First, La Roux, a fantastic explosion of Brit-Pop that my lovely friend Sarah brought to my attention. Think euro-electronica complete with crazed hair, eyeshadow straight out of a Wharhol pic, and the boyfriend blazer :) For starters, I would recommend "In It For the Kill" and "Bulletproof," which are both solid anthems that say what they mean and mean what they say.

Next, and on a completely different note, all of my neighbors get a quick and not-so-real apology from me because I've been blasting Guetta for the past month non-stop! Who is Guetta, you ask? Ummm...that would be David Guetta, the famed French DJ at Pacha in Ibiza who has recently made a splash in the US mainstream scene with "Sexy Chick" (yes, the even edited the title). He's known for house and dance hits like "Love is Gone" and "When Love Takes Over." If you're feeling adventurous and in the mood to be mystified, I would recommend "If We Ever."

And before you ask, YES, THIS IS A DANCE SONG!!!

Yay, I have a new post for the new year...epic win!

Enjoy,
me :)
